Lipetsk was the day of occupational safety “the Need for and proper use of personal protective equipment on production”, where representatives of the Lipetsk regional branch of Fund of social insurance of the state labour Inspectorate and of the administration of the Lipetsk region has told about security at the enterprises of the region, and the producers PPE (PPE) “East”, Ansell and 3M, presented modern solutions. Participation the seminar was attended by the largest enterprises of the region: PJSC "NLMK" OOO «Petrovsky agro” LTD "Subsoil Keramik", JSC «LGAC”, Khlebozavod No. 3, Lipetsk bread.
Security products - one of the key issues of further development of industry in the region. The administration of the Lipetsk region took the initiative to unite representatives of regulatory bodies, trade unions, occupational health services of industrial enterprises, manufacturers of personal protective equipment and to discuss the issues of reducing industrial traumatism and professional morbidity. Occupational safety – a very dynamic industry, how the awareness of workers in the protection of the quality of the solution used depends on the security of people: “analysis of the results of the current work suggests that unfortunately, today we still face the human factor in safety. Therefore, this seminar is an attempt to reach the consciousness of the workers», - said Alexander Silin, Deputy head of the Department of labor and employment Lipetsk region.
What trends in the field of occupational safety today is typical of the region, said the speakers at the seminar. So, Pavel Malakhov, head of Department of development of group of companies “East”, commented on the selection of special clothing and footwear and the practical use of means of individual protection, he said: “Despite the fact that today, many Russian companies are provided with the necessary means of protection, a need remains for training in effective use of PPE. Buy respirator, half mask, full body harness or shield is not enough to teach people how to use the remedies in specific conditions, to explain why this is important, what are the risks. We decided to raise this issue, to introduce modern means of protection and to tell about the best practices in occupational safety”.
The latest developments in the field of occupational safety were presented by the manufacturers of remedies. So leading specialist 3M Mikhail Popkov demonstrated PPE respiratory, head, eye, he said: “3M provides a wide range of solutions to ensure safety in the workplace. We believe that today it is not only important to provide workers with modern means of protection, but also to learn to properly apply and monitor their effectiveness throughout the work shift. You need to involve in the process of monitoring the employees themselves. How to do it? Only increasing the awareness of workers about the health risks when unsafe practices or refusal to use PPE. Quite often people simply underestimate the risks. For example, some businesses people use helmets, realizing that they could get injured here and now, at the same time refuse PPE hearing, because I do not know that hearing loss is not instantaneous. Without proper protection, even a short-term impact of harmful factors on the human body can lead to tragedy. It is necessary to talk to people, tell them that when selecting PPE hearing the employer assesses their acoustic efficiency, hygienic application, working conditions, and they should talk about their feelings, the comfort of use”.
The participants of the workshop agreed that this approach should always be used in the selection of any means of protection. The only way to choose quality PPE, the use of which will help to protect workers.
Control of working conditions, minimization of risks, the use of effective modern means of individual protection and training employees in their proper use will help to reduce the level of professional diseases and traumatism at enterprises.
