In April 2015, the Ministry of economic development noted that the decline of the Russian machine-tool production amounted to 54.1% in just a month. The result of this sharp decline will be the inhibition of progress in the engineering industry. Earlier, the Ministry had forecast a decline in industrial production in Russia by 1.3%, while the real figure was 4.5% compared with April 2014. According to Rosstat data, the rate of fall increased 7.5 times, becoming the highest since crisis year 2009.
However, in the first quarter of 2015, growth machine tool manufacturing in Russia was 26.6%. The cause of the ensuing recession, experts say that the decline in investment as the products of this sector is purely investment purpose. The main hope of the Ministry of economic development imposes on the program of import substitution, which should improve the situation and reduce the dependence of domestic enterprises from foreign suppliers.
